"be silent, be still"

i shun silence - my tv or radio is always on, i can't go shopping without taking along a book for the walk there and back. lying on my couch last night, i realized why:
a) i'm kinda lonely
b) i'm scared of being alone with God
i've always preferred praying for other people than sitting alone before God, talking to Him. so, if you're a praying person, i'd appreciate anything you want to pour into the bowls of Heaven.
