whine no more, ladies (and gents)

you know what my bible says? "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. AGAINST SUCH THINGS THERE IS NO LAW." (gal 5:22-23)

i wish Christians would stop whining about our civil liberties while people starve, freeze, overdose, and cry themselves into lonely deaths. maybe if we focused on others for a change we would realize that what's most important - and what God wants - cannot be legislated against.

Speaking as a Christian who has worked for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association: ouch. I'm convicted. It's awfully convenient for me to rail against overreaching governments while ignoring my own duty to roll up my sleeves and help people with their immediate needs.

Still, can't we agitate for civil liberties and roll up our sleeves to help out at the same time?

Paul - I hope so. (Speaking as someone who does a lot of dinner-table-pounding in favour of civil liberties)

Perhaps it's a matter of agitating without whining or ignoring others?
